We believe it is a constant, ever-evolving journey towards wholeness that begins here and now. This path is not a straight line, but it’s filled with ups and downs, twists and turns, and lessons along the jagged, unsteady path.

There is a feeling within many of us that we are ready to return home and find a faith that accepts us for who we are and where we are. The Prodigals is a group of spiritual seekers who desire to provide open community gatherings for those seeking a safe spiritual home, liberating people from the constraints of the Institutional church.
Our goal is that our community empowers you to fully embody the unique image of God you are created to be.

meet the team
Our deepest desire is to form spiritual community in a fresh way outside the walls of the institutional church, liberating people from the usual constraints in which church often comes with. Our method is to organize “pop-up” community events in Frisco and nearby areas. Our goal is to provide welcoming, inclusive, and energetic expressions of faith that enable people to develop authentic relationships and spiritual wholeness.
We aspire to create a spiritual home that is intimate and vulnerable, where everyone's intellectual, philosophical, and spiritual thoughts are valued. Through deep conversations, group dialogue, sacred practices, and solidarity with the marginalized, we aim to explore faith in diverse and healthy ways.
The Prodigals is CURRENTLY growing as we find others like ourselves to be in community here in frisco! Starting with a design team of passionate people from grace avenue United methodist church and the founding pastor, Laura byrd, This team came together around this question: If you could create a community that resonated with your spirituality right now, what would it include? ANSWERS FROM OUR TEAM INCLUDED: ASKING QUESTIONS as the norm AND DOUBT BEING ACCEPTED, INTENTIONALITY, TRUE ACCEPTANCE WHEREVER WE ARE ON OUR SPIRITUAL PATH, RELAXED GATHERINGS, OPEN MINDEDness, AUTHENTICITY, a SAFE SPACE FOR ALL PEOPLE, AN INTIMATE WORSHIP COMMUNITY, and AN ALTERNATIVE TO TRADITIONAL CHURCH. It’s with these answers in which the idea for the prodigals was born.
